Customers purchasing smartphones on e-commerce portals and then receiving soap bars and bricks are nothing new. And similar is happening with some OnePlus 5 customers. It is worth noting that OnePlus 5 reviews on Amazon India are filled with complaints about getting soaps or other Micromax mobiles getting delivered in place of the actual smartphone. While it might not be something very new, it is still surprising that users are delivered wrong products while purchasing from authorized resellers. As initially reported by India Today, instead of the OnePlus 5, users are getting soap bars. The bill is for the OnePlus 5 and the box also seems to have a mock or a dummy device, as shown in the images. There have been more than a couple of cases of users receiving soaps or soap cases from Amazon India instead of the smartphone. Another user has also complained of getting the Micromax Bharat 2 phone, which is a basic smartphone available for Rs 3,500 on Amazon India. While OnePlus 5 has reverted on the complaints, asking the user to get in touch with Amazon India, there has been no official response from Amazon.
The users posting the complaints are verified buyers. Apart from the phone not getting delivered, there are also multiple complaints of the phone getting delivered with missing parts or accessories. There are many users complaining about dents on the phone or the OnePlus 5 delivered with cracks on the camera glass covering.
There are also users complaining of faulty handsets with bad camera zoom or non-functional Wi-Fi. As the complaints all come from verified buyers, there is no doubt of people writing bad reviews. Additionally, most of the reviews also come with images to prove their authenticity. ALSO READ: OnePlus starts rolling out OxygenOS 4.5.5 update for the OnePlus 5
The OnePlus 5 is available online via Amazon India and select OnePlus stores in the country. Additionally, the smartphone is an Amazon Fulfilled smartphone, meaning the users do not have to wait long as the smartphone is available in stock in Amazon India warehouse. As it is only Amazon India trusted sellers who can sell the smartphone, it raises multiple flags over the authenticity of the sellers and also the security checks and procedures practiced by Amazon India before shipment. The issue is most common with popular flagships like the iPhone.
Apart from wrong deliveries, OnePlus 5 has been in news this week for all the wrong reasons. To begin with, users complained of faulty Wi-Fi in the device, which soon received a software patch from OnePlus. Next in line was the jelly scrolling controversy, which was recently attributed to the OnePlus 5 display being upside down – an effect which OnePlus claims is only ‘natural’. Many users are also complaining of inverted audio in the OnePlus 5, an issue which is yet to be acknowledged by the company. Right after launch, the phone has run into multiple issues and looks like there is no end to OnePlus 5 woes.
