Spotted by Priceraja, leaked photo of prototype model suggests that the smartphone will come with dual-rear cameras. While the previously leaked photos Apple iPhone 7 Plus like camera placement on the top left, the latest leak has the dual-camera module placed vertically. Do note, this seems to be a prototype model and not the final device.
Another thing worth noting is that the new OnePlus 5 leaked photos have no antenna lines on the back, while the previous leak indicated that two antenna bands will run along the top and bottom similar to the OnePlus 3T. Apart from this, the new leak also suggests that the smartphone might ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack, and audio will be routed using a USB Type-C port.
Having said that, OnePlus CEO, Carl Pei had conducted a poll on Twitter asking users whether they like headphone jacks or not? While 88 percent people voted in favor, there was a small 12 percent of people (Apple iPhone 7 fans), who voted against having a headphone jack. Keeping in mind, from the poll and the results obtained from it, we can expect OnePlus to take hints and ‘NOT’ remove the headphone jack from the upcoming OnePlus 5.
OnePlus 5 specifications, features
From what we know so far, the OnePlus 5 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch 2K resolution display. At the heart, the smartphone will most likely run Qualcomm s Snapdragon 835 SoC clocked at 2.35GHz and paired with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone might launch with two variants- 6GB RAM plus 64GB storage and 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage.
The camera department is one aspect that is very sketchy. Renders suggest that the OnePlus 5 will come with a dual-camera setup, however, there are no sensor details yet. Some rumors hit at a 23-megapixel or 16-megapixel rear camera and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies, but no details about the secondary sensor or its working. In terms of battery, we are not quite clear as leaks suggest the smartphone might be fuelled with either a 3,600mAh battery or a 4,000mAh battery. It will also support company s Dash Charge technology. On the software front, the OnePlus 5 is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. Having talked about the camera, OnePlus recently announced that it is partnering with DxO to make the OnePlus 5 s camera better. As reported by Engadget, DxO is helping OnePlus to improve and create world’s leading camera for the upcoming OnePlus 5. For those who don’t know, DxO is best known for the DxOMark benchmarking test that tests and ranks smartphones based on their camera performance.
However, we will wait to see the improvement and the upgrades that OnePlus bring with the new OnePlus 5 this summer.
