OnePlus has released new open beta builds for its flagship smartphones from 2017. OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are currently getting Open Beta Build 20 and Build 18 respectively that bring new software features to these two devices.

As part of its Open Beta program, OnePlus has been trying to push updates sooner to its year-old devices. The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T received Open Beta version 19 and Open Beta version 17 just last month and now, the company has released two new beta builds for these devices. The update from last month focused mainly on the OnePlus Switch application while the Weather application received some optimization that made them compatible with the overall user interface. The update also brought September security patch and the new open beta release brings security patch for the month of October.

Apart from newest security patch, the Open Beta 20 for OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 18 for OnePlus 5T also bring new gesture function to the Gallery application. This function lets users close a picture by swiping down on the gallery application. The other changes coming with this update are mainly aimed at the community application that comes pre-installed on its smartphones.

The Open Beta 20 and Open Beta 18 for the OnePlus 5 and 5T includes a number of changes for the community app including the addition of a feed that lets you follow community members. There is also now an option to share threads and developers have worked on some general user interface issues and bug fixes as part of this release.

If you are running the open beta on your OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T then this update should appear as a traditional OTA update. However, those on the stable channel can move over to open beta by following OnePlus’ flashing instructions. The update comes weeks ahead of the launch of its second flagship, the OnePlus 6T on October 30. The smartphone will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor and switch to a waterdrop-style notch seen on smartphones like the Vivo V11 Pro and Oppo F9 Pro.
