OnePlus 5 is just hours away from its official launch tomorrow. Just two days later, OnePlus will launch its flagship smartphone in India on June 22. As OnePlus gears up for its launch in full swing, the smartphone has already recorded 5.27 lakh pre-registrations on Chinese retail website JD.com for its first flash sale scheduled to take place on June 22. OnePlus began the pre-registrations for the OnePlus 5 on June 14. At the time of writing, JD.com has garnered 532,742 pre-registrations for the OnePlus 5. This data comes from a single website, and the numbers are expected to be even higher. Adding to the numbers would come from India as well, as the OnePlus 5 will go on sale on its launch day itself via e-commerce site Amazon India. OnePlus will also be hosting pop-up events the next day after its launch in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai on June 23 where it will showcase the OnePlus 5 and early birds will be able to purchase one too.
Much like the Galaxy S8, the OnePlus 5 has been mercilessly rumored and leaked, revealing almost all there is to the smartphone. The company too, has been teasing the smartphone bit by bit. So far, we know that the OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 835 SoC, feature a front fingerprint sensor, full HD display, and dual rear cameras. OnePlus allowed a peek into the design with a teaser posted revealing the rear panel. This led to heavy criticism of how the OnePlus 5 looks very similar to the Oppo R11, which draws influence form the iPhone 7 Plus. The speculated specifications on the OnePlus 5 include a 5.5-inch display with Corning s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The smartphone is expected to be fuelled by a 3,300mAh battery. There could be two variants of the OnePlus 5 which comprise of 6GB RAM plus 64GB storage and 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage. OnePlus has been teasing the flagship s camera as well with samples which hint on low-light photography and bokeh effect as well. The specifics however remain a mystery with suggestions on a pair of 16-megapixel rear cameras. Up front, the smartphone could house an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.
