OnePlus has already started teasing its upcoming flagship smartphone, which is expected to launch sometime in the coming months. Called OnePlus 5, we have come across a handful of rumors, renders and leaked design schematics giving us a fair idea of what to expect. Now, ahead of the launch, someone having access to the OnePlus 5 prototype device has managed to run it through synthetic benchmarks. According to the screenshot shared by GSMArena, OnePlus 5 was put through the paces on GeekBench 4 benchmark. The result has not only revealed the highest score, but also revealed few details of the upcoming smartphone. OnePlus 5 powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 835 SoC has logged a score of 1,963 in single core-test and 6,687 in multi-core test. There are two other devices powered by the same chipset the Galaxy S8 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium. The Galaxy S8 has logged scores of 1,929 and 6,084 in single and multi-core tests, respectively. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium, on the other hand, has logged a score of 1,943 and 5,824 in single and multi-core tests. Looking at the scores of all three devices, it is evident that OnePlus 5 could turn out to be a powerful smartphone. However, it is important to note that scoring less in the benchmark scores doesn t mean the device is not powerful enough. Earlier this year, OnePlus was caught cheating on benchmarks by artificially boosting processor clock speeds when certain benchmark is detected by the OS. OnePlus 5 specifications and features
The screenshot shared by the publication also reveals that the OnePlus 5 will ship with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. From what we know so far, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm s Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of internal storage.
The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T features a 5.5-inch full HD display. In case of the OnePlus 5, rumors point at a higher resolution QHD display, while keeping the screen size intact at 5.5-inch. In the photography department, the smartphone could come with dual-rear camera setup of 23-megapixel resolution, and a front-facing 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. It remains to be seen what all features finally make it to the device when it officially launches.
