The OnePlus 5 was launched in June this year and is currently our favorite smartphone at under Rs 40,000 for a number of reasons. From the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC under the hood to the massive 8GB of RAM at your disposal, the phone is an absolute powerhouse that won t let you down when it comes to performance. In addition, the dual-camera setup that combines a 16-megapixel primary sensor with a 20-megapixel secondary telephoto sensor that gives you DSLR-like bokeh effects and up to 2X lossless zoom. Earlier this month, OnePlus announced its latest color variant for the OnePlus 5, Soft Gold. The new variant is exactly the same as the other two color options of the OnePlus 5, except for the color. The Soft Gold OnePlus 5 features a dull, matte shade of gold at the back and along the sides, top and bottom. This is nearly the same shade of gold that is seen on the Soft Gold variant of the OnePlus 3T. It looks sophisticated and stylish, and will appeal to buyers that want a phone that s a bit more snazzy and blingy. The front of the phone is white instead of the black that you re used to seeing on the Slate Grey and Midnight Black variants. The metallic ring around the home button is also finished in gold, which is a pleasant change from the silver finish on the dark color variants. Although the Soft Gold variant doesn t quite look as impressive as the Midnight Black variant in my opinion, and also looks a bit like many other smartphones that go with similar white color options, it s entirely subjective and may appeal to a lot of buyers.
However, the equations aren t as straightforward as you d like, and you will have to choose the color based on the storage and RAM variant that you want.
If you re on a lower budget, your options are either Slate Grey or Soft Gold, as both of these variants are available only in the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option and are priced at Rs 32,999. If you re looking for more RAM and storage, you will have to buy the Midnight Black variant, priced at Rs 37,999. Unfortunately, the colors and tied to the storage variants, and it s not possible to buy a black OnePlus 5 with 64GB storage, or gold and grey device with 128GB of storage.
Hopefully, OnePlus will soon release Soft Gold and Slate Grey even in the 8GB/128GB variant. Which is your favorite color option for the OnePlus 5? Let us know via the comments.
