We are about 10 days from the launch of the OnePlus 5, and things are really heating up. OnePlus is really making sure that its fans excitement graph is only vertical up. Since a couple of weeks now, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has very strategically been teasing the smartphone s features one after the other. Last night, the OnePlus chief teased a picture of the rear side of the handset, thus confirming the long-speculated dual-camera setup on the OnePlus 5. The teaser was then also shared by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. Essentially, from the teaser we can make out that the OnePlus 5 will feature a metallic unibody design, with a midnight black color. Unlike OnePlus 3T, midnight black might just be a regular color option with the OnePlus 5. Further, the most important bit, the teaser image shows the dual-camera at the back of the smartphone, which is horizontally placed, and is accompanied with an LED flash sitting next to it. The shared image also shows a hint of what looks like a power button, placed on the right edge of the device. Also, just above the camera runs an edge to edge strip of antennae band, similar to that on the newer iPhones. In this teaser Pete Lau has teased the OnePlus 5 s camera in just a handful of words. The image caption reads, Dual Camera. Clearer Photos. The punchline is followed by the June 20 global launch date and the time of launch that is 12 PM EDT, which would be 9.30 PM our time (IST). While, thanks to Pete Lau, we now know for sure that the OnePlus 5 will feature a dual-camera setup, we are yet to have a confirmation on the vitals of the camera. Where some rumors hint that the smartphone will come with a pair of 16-megapixel snappers, other leaks have hinted at a 20-megapixel dual-camera setup. What is clear however is that the camera will be among the highlights of the OnePlus 5, as the company has partnered the folks at DxO Mark. Additionally, while the specifications of the camera are still a mystery, a bunch of camera samples of the OnePlus 5 have surfaced till now – some by OnePlus chief himself, others by tipsters. In fact, very recently, Lau had shared a camera sample of the smartphone. The image was clicked in low light, and was actually quite impressive. From what we could make out of the night shot, it showed a clear sky framing an odd-shaped building. The camera captured several details of the building including shadows, the grime that covers the walls, and even some stairways inside the edifice. Unlike what happens with many high-end smartphones as well, this OnePlus 5 night shot was very clear with no grain or noise in the image. Late last month as well, OnePlus had teased another camera sample comparison which essentially highlighted the new smartphone s low light performance. The tweet had two photos placed next to each other that were clicked using different smartphones, one of which was the OnePlus 5. Out of the two shots, the second one clearly excelled with better contrast and saturation levels, which was naturally the OnePlus 5 s.
