OnePlus has confirmed that it will launch its first 5G-enabled smartphone next year. The company will one of the first three companies to launch a 5G-capable smartphone in 2019. This information was confirmed by SoC maker Qualcomm during the Qualcomm 4G/5G summit in Hong Kong. In addition to this, it was also revealed that the successor of OnePlus 6T, likely OnePlus 7 will not come with 5G connectivity. Instead, the company is working on launching a 5G-capable smartphone with all new design and branding. As previously reported, this means that the company is likely to launch three smartphones next year.
Focusing on the 5G-enabled smartphone by the company, new information has surfaced on the internet indicating that the device may launch at a price that is $100 more than the current price of OnePlus 6T. This paints a much clearer picture giving us an estimated price of one of the first 5G-enabled smartphones in the market. According to a report by Fudzilla, the 5G-capable device by OnePlus is likely to be launched at a price of $649. This information comes from “people close to the matter” in the company. It is likely that 5G-capable devices by other companies will launch at a more premium price point.
