The Chinese smartphone maker has published a new teaser video called “What’s in the Box?” on YouTube that shows people touching and holding the mystery device in the box. While it’s not clear what’s inside the box, the people mention words like “smooth,” “textured,” “stone,” “sand,” “grippy,” and even something as clear as original OnePlus One Sandstone. OnePlus ditched the much liked Sandstone finish on its phones with the launch of OnePlus 3 last year. OnePlus 5T, its latest flagship smartphone was launched only in Midnight Black color variant. The company added a new variant with white finish in the form of OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition early this month. With OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition being available in limited quantities, the new Sandstone finish might become second color option for OnePlus 5T. The smartphone is expected to launch worldwide in January but the company has not officially confirmed the existence of sandstone variant just yet.
OnePlus has consistently said that it makes products based on user feedback and OnePlus fans have been vocal about resurrecting the sandstone finish on its smartphones. We’ll have to wait just few more days for the official announcement from the company.
To recall, OnePlus 5T was launched as replacement to OnePlus 5 in November. The smartphone features thinner bezels and sports a 6-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and comes in two storage options: 6GB RAM variant with 64GB storage and an 8GB RAM variant with 128GB storage.
The OnePlus 5T also features a dual rear camera setup with a combination of 16-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor. The selfie camera is the same 16-megapixel setup also found on OnePlus 5. It runs OxygenOS based on Android 7.1 Nougat but will soon get Android Oreo beta update. The smartphone is backed by a 3,300mAh battery and is available at a starting price of Rs 32,999 exclusively on Amazon India.
