Android Police notes that the update weighs in at 286MB but OnePlus has still not released the factory image for those interested in manually updating their device. The dots above the shutter which previously indicated the camera mode has been replaced with descriptive text. Also Read - OnePlus Nord CE 5G Review: Focusing on its Core
The camera UI tweak is a major improvement that perfectly describes the function of different mode. OnePlus 5T‘s weak point continues to be the camera despite the switch to a dedicated sensor for low-light photography. OnePlus says the OxygenOS 4.7.4 update improves photo quality, but it needs to be tested before passing a judgement whether it truly delivers better pictures now.
OnePlus had earlier stated that December update for OxygenOS will bring improved exposure for selfies alongside beautification mode being always turned on in Asia. The new update brings those changes and audio optimization for the speaker and headphones.
The changelog also mentions improvements to face unlock and vibration optimization, which should be a bit stronger than before. There is also other improvements like WiFi power-saving, fingerprint and GPS stability improvements and general bug fixes.
The update is being rolled out first to users in Germany and will gradually be rolled out to other markets as well. It should also put out factory images so users can manually update their devices.
The OxygenOS 4.7.4 update is still based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is based on October security patch. OnePlus claims OnePlus 5T had the best response yet for its product on the launch day and is planning to roll out Android 8.0 Oreo via beta channel by the end of this month.
