Thanks to Motorola, we all know mods are the way to improve existing capabilities of a smartphone. While Motorola has a range of Mods for its Moto Z family, OnePlus‘ new members 5 and 5T have now found their saviors in the form of third-party developers who are aiming to enhance the sub-par camera capabilities through dedicated tools.
OnePlus Camera M is a mod by XDA member txx1219 which is unlike the Moto Mod. Essentially, it is a software add-on and does not require you to physically snap on a cover or a mod onto the OnePlus 5 or 5T smartphones. As XDA Developers explains, the tool to improve the camera quality is furnished as a Magisk Module.
To simplify, you will have to root your smartphone and install Magisk. You should also ensure that your OnePlus camera app is not updated through the Play Store. In case you updated the app in the past, then you will have to disable it from the app’s info and re-enable it to revert it to the original camera.
Once you do that, you can choose to install the module through a flashable ZIP file from the recovery or through the link mentioned in the forum to have the mod running on your device. In the post published, the results of the OnePlus Camera M are compared against the stock camera, and admittedly the results of the mod are sharper than the original app.
