Display, and design
The OnePlus 5T is expected to come with a major design change as compared to the OnePlus 5. The smartphone has been consistently pictured in leaks with an edge-to-edge display giving an almost bezel-less look. The design is quite similar to the recently launched Oppo R11s, but more so like the Galaxy S8. The edge-to-edge display could be a 6-inch full HD+ AMOLED one with aspect ratio of 18:9. With the Home button removed, OnePlus will possibly opt for a rear fingerprint sensor which is placed at the center just above the logo. The expected dual-camera setup will likely be placed at the same place in the top-left corner. What’s also been confirmed is the 3.5mm audio jack on the OnePlus 5T.
Processor, RAM and storage
In terms of memory and performance, the specifications have been rumored to be the same as the OnePlus 5. If rumors are to be believed, then the OnePlus 5T will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The storage variants are also said to be the same with 6GB RAM plus 64GB storage, and 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage. There are still no reports on a 256GB variant. As seen in leaked renders, the OnePlus 5T sports a dual-camera setup at the rear. However, the camera specifics are still unknown. Some reports suggest that the megapixel count will remain the same on the dual-camera setup but some new features will be added. While there are others that say that OnePlus may just opt for a single rear camera. That seems very unlikely though considering that the dual-camera setup is a highlight of the OnePlus 5. According to rumors, there could be a small bump in the battery size of the OnePlus 5T. The smartphone could be fueled by a 3,450mAh battery. For those who were expecting wireless charging on the OnePlus 5T, the company has confirmed that it won’t be present on the OnePlus 5T. Citing reasons of how wireless charging technology is still not convenient for majority of its consumers, it decided to stick to Dash Charge technology as its primary charging tech. With the OnePlus 5T, alleged documentation of the smartphone reveals that it will be priced the same as the OnePlus 5. In India, the OnePlus 5 is priced at Rs 32,999 for the base variant, and Rs 37,999 for the higher model. RELATED: OnePlus 5T will be priced the same as OnePlus 5: Report
OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau had also slightly hinted on the pricing in a reply to a query on Weibo. Lau said that 4,000 RMB (approximately Rs 39,100) will be enough to purchase the OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 5 is available in China at 3,499 (approximately Rs 34,200) for the higher variant. This could possibly mean that the OnePlus 5T will be priced higher than the OnePlus 5, but nothing can be determined as yet.
On announcing the launch date, OnePlus also revealed availability details for various markets including India.
