OnePlus is yet to officially confirm if there will be an upgraded model of the OnePlus 5, but that is not stopping the rumor mill from churning out new speculation every day. In the latest report, renders of the purported OnePlus 5T model have been spotted, suggesting a design language similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8. Renders spotted on Slashleaks show off the rumored OnePlus 5T sporting extremely narrow top and bottom bezels and slightly curved corners, quite reminiscent of the latest Galaxy S8 duo. The power button is shown on the right, while on the left, there are volume controllers and the alert slider. What is particularly noticeable is that there is no home button on the front panel and the speaker module is shown on a very thin bezel on top. Given the edge-to-edge display, we can expect the OnePlus 5T to have an aspect ratio of 18:9. In comparison, the OnePlus 5 features a regular 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display, with the home button on the front panel and thicker top and bottom bezels.
While the current renders suggest a Galaxy S8-like design, a recent report by GizmoChina suggested that the design is, in fact, similar to the Oppo F5 which is set to be released later this month. Irrespective of whether it looks like the Galaxy S8 or the Oppo F5, if the OnePlus 5T is indeed in the making, then there’s a lot of disappointment for the current OnePlus 5 owners, as the rumored model is said to include improved features. It is speculated that while maintaining some of the key features, the OnePlus 5T will receive a bump in terms of display quality and size. It is likely to feature a 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Similar to its strategy with the OnePlus 3, the company is expected to release the new OnePlus 5T as soon as November, about five months since the launch of the OnePlus 5.
Talking about the OnePlus 5, the flagship smartphone is priced at Rs 32,999 and packs a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED screen with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core 2.45GHz SoC is paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. On the software front, it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based on Oxygen OS 4.5.0, but the software has since been updated to Oxygen OS 4.5.12. For optics, there is a combination of 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel camera at the back, along with a 16-megapixel camera up front. It is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery with support for Dash Charge fast-charging. ALSO READ: Apple iPhone 8 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8 vs OnePlus 5: Dual cameras compared
