  • OnePlus 5T low light photography to be improved.

  • Selfies will have more natural exposure.

  • Beautification mode only on by default in certain markets in Asia going forward.

Last week, OnePlus upgraded and pretty much replaced this year’s OnePlus 5 with the new OnePlus 5T. Almost the same in terms of the essentials, the key upgrades between the two have been in terms of the display, the fingerprint sensor at the back, and the face recognition for lock-screen security. The camera of the OnePlus 5T retains the specifications of the OnePlus 5, although with a changed secondary sensor. However, there may be some improvements coming to the camera of the OnePlus 5T.

Just weeks after launch, the OnePlus 5T (Review) is set for some significant camera upgrades. In a surprise announcement, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has confirmed that there are some changes incoming for the new OnePlus 5T smartphone.

In the OnePlus forum, Pei said that the OnePlus 5T will receive an update that looks to improve the cameras’ low-light performance, particularly when it comes to sharpness. The update also looks to improve the front-facing camera when it comes to more natural exposure in selfies. Finally, OnePlus’ beautification mode will only be on by default in certain Asian markets moving forward.

This news of upgrade is in response to critics who have complained of the OnePlus 5T’s photography capabilities. “We have seen some of the reviews that mention our OnePlus 5T camera could be performing better and offering a few areas of improvement. Well, we wanted to let you know that we have our team already beginning to work on the following improvements to bring you the following in an upcoming update,” a OnePlus spokesperson told Trusted Reviews.

OnePlus says that it will test the update with a private group next week, with a general roll-out scheduled for sometime in early December.

The OnePlus 5T went on early-access sale on November 21 in India and other markets, with the open sale scheduled for November 28 in India. It will be available online through and Amazon India, as well as offline through select Croma stores. Today, OnePlus is holding a ‘Preview Sale’ for the smartphone, which kicked off at 12PM via Amazon India and The OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs 32,999 for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant and Rs 37,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant.
