Good Evening. It’s Monday and I sincerely want to know if you are game for the week ahead. It’s E3 week and I was obliged to start with the word ‘game’. The gaming universe was left, right and center at E3 with Electronics Arts, Microsoft and Bethesda showcasing new games and answering the pressing question: what is the future of game industry?

EA took the more subtle approach of following on Netflix’s success while Microsoft detailed its plan for a new game streaming service. The bottomline of E3 2018 was quite simple: if you like to play games then be prepared to shell more money on the next-generation game titles. In the meantime, if you plan to save money on electronics then Amazon India has an ongoing discount on select iPhone models. OnePlus has announced new OnePlus Asphalt Cup in exclusive partnership with Gameloft. Here is a look at top tech stories from busy Monday.

OnePlus 6 has a bootloader flaw

OnePlus makes one of the most premium smartphones that does not cost a lot. However, it has been found that OnePlus phones do tend to have some kind of vulnerability. The latest victim is the newest flagship OnePlus 6. The smartphone has been detected to have a critical vulnerability that allows booting any image even with locked bootloader.

A bootloader is the most critical system component that can be locked to prevent users from replacing or modifying the phone’s operating system. While it is common to unlock bootloader and experiment, this is the first time we have heard of ability to replace even locked bootloader. OnePlus says a fix is incoming, but this vulnerability shouldn’t have existed in first place.

E3 2018: Microsoft plans game streaming platform

E3 basically means the biggest week in games and this year was no exception. Microsoft did not bring any new consoles to E3 this year but it did reveal plans for a new game streaming service. Having missed out on mobile, Microsoft has found real value in gaming with its Xbox and it now wants to leverage that technology for a cross-platform game streaming platform.

Microsoft Xbox users can already resume certain games on their PC after starting on a console and with the streaming service, Microsoft wants to simplify cross-device gaming. Sony and NVIDIA have tried and failed and it is not certain whether Microsoft will be successful.

DoT plans 10,000 more public WiFi

The department of telecommunication is planning to install 10,000 more public WiFi hotspots nationwide in the coming months. The plan is part of an initiative that aims to connect and digitize the country.

DoT says it plans to launch it first and refine as consumers start using the service. The initiative should help consumers get rid of their dependence on mobile networks.

Airtel has a new Rs 558 prepaid plan

Airtel has launched a new Rs 558 prepaid plan that offers 3GB data per day. It comes with a validity of 82 days and offers 246GB data during the validity. It also offers unlimited voice calls, text messages with no fair usage policy.

Airtel’s Rs 558 prepaid plan rivals similar tariff plan from Reliance Jio and Vodafone. Airtel is the leading player but it will soon be overtaken by the combined entity of Vodafone and Idea Cellular.

OnePlus and Gameloft team-up

OnePlus Asphalt Cup, a new racing championship has been launched in India. The Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has launched the racing championship in partnership with Gameloft and it will be held during the 4-week period from June 13 to July 8.

The winners stand a chance to take home a prize money of up to Rs 9 lacs in addition to OnePlus 6 and OnePlus Bullets Wireless earphones.

E3 2018: EA reveals details of Anthem

Electronics Arts is the biggest game developer in the world and its E3 keynote was one full of surprises and excitement. Ahead of E3, EA had revealed its biggest title Battlefield V and at E3, it confirmed that RPG title Anthem is coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation On February 22, 2018.

Battlefield V follows on the success of PUBG and Fortnite to include a battle royale mode. Other titles announced at the event include Unravel 2, Sea of Solitude and Battlefront II. We will be doing a lot of battle in the forthcoming days thanks to these game developers.
