OnePlus has confirmed that Android P Beta will be available on its upcoming flagship device, the OnePlus 6. This announcement came hours after Google formally announced the latest version of its upcoming Android release at I/O 2018. However, there was no OnePlus device in the list of eligible devices for Android P Beta program on the Developers website. Right around the time when the keynote for I/O 2018 was ending, OnePlus took to its forums to confirm that Android P Beta will be available for users who will buy the upcoming OnePlus 6. On the forum, the company added that it wants app developers and early adopters in the OnePlus community to take advantage of the early access to Android P. OnePlus also pointed out that about 135,000 users have signed up to review OnePlus 6 early using its The Lab program. The users who will get their hands on OnePlus 6 early will also be among the first ones with the ability to download the Android P Beta build. Though the announcement focuses on OnePlus 6, the company hinted that OnePlus 5 and 5T users will also get their hands on Android P goodness later this year .

The company did not confirm if it was referring to Android P Beta program or the official Android P update for OnePlus 5 and 5T users. Since OnePlus 6 users will be able to install Android P Beta on their devices, this would also imply that OnePlus will be adding Project Treble support to its upcoming flagship smartphone. Despite being developer friendly in terms of rooting or device software modifications, OnePlus has not added Project Treble support to its devices that are available in the market at the time of writing.
According to the Developer preview page on the OnePlus website, the download link is Coming May 16 as the device will launch at 9:30PM that day. This beta build will work as a baseline version of Android P to help developers develop and optimize their apps. The page also highlights new features from the upcoming OS including Display Cutout Support , Rich notifications , and the ability to Stream simultaneously using two or more cameras”.
Last, but not the least, OnePlus has also added a warning stating that it is still in an early stage of development and the company does not recommend flashing this ROM if users have little to no experience in software development .
