OnePlus 6 will finally become official at an event in London today. The smartphone will be the first flagship device for 2018 from the Chinese smartphone maker and will compete with the likes of Honor 10, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, Google Pixel 2 XL, Huawei P20 and P20 Pro and the iPhone X. With OnePlus 6, OnePlus is teasing the smartphone to be more powerful than its predecessor.

Since the launch of OnePlus One in 2014, the Chinese hardware startup has grown to become one of the sought after smartphone brands. It has differentiated itself as the flagship killer by offering premium design and flagship-grade specifications at competitive price. However, in the past few years, OnePlus flagships have become more expensive than in the past and the OnePlus 6 is said to be its most expensive product yet. The leaks so far have already revealed the complete specifications and features of the smartphone. With Honor 10 launched yesterday offering competitive specifications, OnePlus 6 definitely has some competition even before its official launch.

OnePlus 6 launch: Price, specifications and what to expect

OnePlus 6 is expected to be a major departure from what we have seen from the company in the past. The OnePlus 6 will switch from an all metal unibody design to one with glass back. The smartphone is expected to feature aluminum frame with Corning Gorilla Glass at the front as well as rear. The design change will put OnePlus 6 in the same league as that of Samsung Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X.

The OnePlus 6 will also bring other design changes including a repositioned alert slider, which rumors predict will move to the right and sport blue color. OnePlus has already confirmed that the smartphone will feature a notched display following on the footsteps of other smartphone makers. Like its sibling Oppo R15, the OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a 6.28-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and support for taller 19:9 aspect ratio.

As expected with any OnePlus flagship, the smartphone will come with latest in terms of hardware. The OnePlus 6 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 SoC and option for either 6GB or 8GB and choice of either 64GB or 128GB or 256GB storage. There will also be a Marvel Avengers Edition smartphone which is rumored to come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage.

While most details about the smartphone have already leaked, the camera features of the device remain unknown at this moment. The OnePlus 6 is not expected to bring major new camera features but might bring improvements over its predecessor. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has already teased camera samples which look promising to say the least.

OnePlus 6 seems to be all about a major redesign and updated specifications. It is not expected to bring major features like wireless charging but should include some kind of water and dust resistance. It is expected to be offered in Mirror Black, Midnight Black and White color when it becomes official.

A leaked listing from Amazon Germany revealed that OnePlus 6 will start at €519 (approximately Rs 41,800) for the base model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.
