While it’s been the subject of many rumors, reports and much speculation, firm details on the OnePlus 6 have been elusive till now with the exception of the many teasers that have been released by OnePlus itself. However, we now know the official date of unveiling of the phone. The OnePlus 6 is set to be unveiled globally on May 16 at a keynote event in London, and BGR India will be on ground to cover it. The event will be followed by an India launch event in Mumbai on May 17, where OnePlus will reveal specifics of the phone in India. The OnePlus 6 will go on sale in India shortly after on May 21 on Amazon India, through an early-access sale for Amazon Prime members. While pricing will be announced at the launch event in London, it is expected that the OnePlus 6 will be priced at around Rs 40,000 in India. The device comes less than a year after the launch of the OnePlus 5, and just about six months after the launch of the OnePlus 5T. However, OnePlus has changed quite a bit in the new phone to differentiate it from its predecessors. These changes include a complete design overhaul with a glass back and a notched full-screen display with a 19:9 aspect ratio.
The global launch event for the OnePlus 5 last year took place via electronic keynote with local events in key markets including India. In a change of strategy, OnePlus had a larger live keynote in Brooklyn, New York in November 2017 for the OnePlus 5T, as it built its presence in the North America market.

This time, OnePlus has taken its launch event to the UK, indicating that the focus for the coming year for the Chinese company will be to boost its presence in the UK and Europe. With India being the company’s largest global market, the focus has shifted to other markets apart from its home market of China, including North America and Europe.
OnePlus 6 expected specifications and features
Quite a bit is already known about the OnePlus 6, including a lot of key specifications. The phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, and feature up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The phone is expected to have a 6.2-inch full HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio AMOLED screen, with a notch cutout at the top for the earpiece, front camera, notification LED and proximity sensor. The phone will also come with a 3.5mm jack, and USB Type-C port. Additionally, teasers by OnePlus have suggested that the phone could feature IP68 water resistance.
