While we have heard that Xiaomi Mi 7 launch might get delayed due to shipments of in-display fingerprint sensor, a new leak sheds more light on the purported OnePlus 6. ITHome has posted images of what it claims to be OnePlus 6, the next mid-range flagship smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker.
The leaked images show few notable changes including a notch at the top of the device similar to that of iPhone X but slightly smaller in dimension. The notch seems to be used to house the front camera, sensors and earpiece since the bezels around the display seems to have been trimmed further for an edge-to-edge display design similar to Apple’s flagship device.
Other design changes can be seen at the back with a vertically-stacked dual camera layout similar to that of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. There is also a fingerprint sensor followed by OnePlus logo. The fingerprint sensor also looks similar to Galaxy S9 duo with a smaller area for recognition than the one found on OnePlus 5T. The leaked image also suggests that OnePlus will switch aluminum casing and glass back for its next flagship, which might pave way for wireless charging support.
Most details regarding the OnePlus 6 remains unknown at this point in time but the company typically launches its first flagship of the year sometime around June. The leaked images posted by ITHome might actually end up being fake or one of the design iteration the company is testing for its flagship. OnePlus has already emerged as one of the most sought after brand in the mid-range flagship segment and it has even defeated Apple and Samsung in the premium category in markets like India.
It’s almost confirmed that the next flagship from the company will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. It is also expected to bring major refinements in the camera department like every year in the past. In the next few months, we will see more information leak related to OnePlus 6 but we will have to wait until the official announcement to know more about the device.
