OnePlus confirmed on Wednesday that its flagship smartphone OnePlus 6 will be officially launched on May 16 at an event in London. The launch event in London will be followed by another launch event in China and India on May 17. The announcement came after leaks pegged May 21 launch date for the flagship smartphone and it will be the earliest launch for a OnePlus flagship launching in the first half of the year.
OnePlus is selling tickets for its launch events being held in all three cities and has now confirmed that there will be OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition as well. It was speculated that OnePlus is prepping to launch Avengers Edition smartphone as soon as it announced that it will offer free tickers for the newest Avengers franchise from Marvel Studios. OnePlus says the new limited edition smartphone is following the success of OnePlus 5T Star Wars and bolsters the relationship between OnePlus and Disney.
The teaser video shared by the company gives a brief glimpse at the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition, which hints at a 19:9 display. It will also sport a unique textured back in comparison with the glass back on the standard OnePlus 6 model. “OnePlus’ association with Marvel Studios bespeaks of its focus on technology, its dedication to its community and to providing superior experiences for its consumers,” the company said in a release. OnePlus will be giving away over 6,000 complimentary tickets for Avengers: Infinity War at 10AM today to its community members.

While there is no specifics on the camera features of OnePlus 6, it is expected to get new updates including new sensor module and optics. The smartphone will run Android 8.1 Oreo with Oxygen and feature a repositioned alert slider.
