OnePlus 6 gets OxygenOS 5.1.9 OTA
OnePlus has released OxygenOS 5.1.9 in the form of an OTA update for OnePlus 6. The update which weighs 342MB brings security patch for the month of July. The OxygenOS 5.1.9 brings camera enhancements to the smartphone, which addresses the oil painting effect and tweaks the software algorithm. The update also integrates Google Lens into the native camera app for image recognition.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 renders leak out on the internet
Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 9 at an event in New York on August 9. It is already known that the smartphone won’t be much different from its predecessor but is expected to sport a repositioned fingerprint sensor and dual rear camera setup seen on the Galaxy S9+.
Ahead of the launch, the smartphone has leaked in the form of official renders which further confirms the minor design changes. The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to offer updated specifications including a Bluetooth-enabled S Pen and larger 4,000mAh battery.
Walmart Plots Rival to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video
Walmart is the name that comes to mind when you think about one major rival to Amazon. But the US-based retailer plans to compete with Amazon in an area that is far from retail. A new report claims that Walmart plans to launch its own video streaming that will undercut Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in terms of price.
The Information reports that it could price the new service at $8 (approximately Rs 550), which would make it cheaper than existing services. Walmart recently acquired a majority stake in Flipkart to compete with Amazon in India.
Sony is holding its IFA press conference on August 30
Sony has confirmed that it will hold its IFA 2018 event at 5.30PM IST on August 30. The company is expected to launch the Xperia XZ3 and Xperia XZ3 Compact at the event. The smartphones will succeed the release of Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact at MWC 2018 in February.
Nokia X5 launched for RMB 999
Nokia X5 is now official and the smartphone is seen to debut as Nokia 5.1 in India. The Nokia X5 is the second addition to the X-series lineup and also the second device to feature a notched display. The smartphone starts at RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,200) and comes in two different variants. In terms of specifications, it offers a 5.86-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio, a MediaTek CPU, 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.
Xiaomi Mi Max 3 specifications confirmed by company president
Xiaomi is set to launch its Mi Max 3 phablet in China tomorrow. The smartphone will be a successor to Mi Max 2 and will adopt the thin bezel design on models like Redmi Note 5 Pro and flagship Mi 8.
Now, ahead of the launch, Xiaomi President Bin Lin has shared official renders and specifications of the smartphone. The Mi Max 3 will feature a 6.9-inch display with 18:9 ratio, Snapdragon 636 chipset, up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
