OnePlus could be on track to launch a red variant of the OnePlus 6 on July 2, according to the latest teasers and images floating around today. After popular YouTuber MKBHD teased a red variant of the OnePlus 6 on his Twitter and Instagram pages, OnePlus today released a video on its official YouTube channel suggesting that a red variant of the OnePlus 6 is on its way and will be revealed on July 2.

The tweet from MKBHD – a popular tech YouTube video producer from the United States known as Marques Brownlee – shows a midnight black OnePlus 6, with another red phone right behind it. Although not much can be seen of the red phone, the design and shape suggests that it’s a red variant of the OnePlus 6. Currently, the OnePlus 6 has been available in four variants: Mirror Black, Midnight Black, Silk White and the Avengers Limited Edition with a kevlar-like texture. The last of the variants is no longer available to buy.
The video above, released by OnePlus, doesn’t reveal much, but does mention July 2, along with various visuals suggesting the color red. Another image was also leaked by Slashleaks, which shows the purported red variant in full. This shows a glossy back, thanks to the glass rear of the phone.
If accurate, the red OnePlus 6 will be very unlike the Lava Red OnePlus 5T that was launched earlier this year. That phone sports a metal back, and the texture and look is naturally quite different as a result. Putting all of this together gives away that the OnePlus 6 red variant could be launched early next week.
Nonetheless, if we do see the OnePlus 6 launch in a new color variant, it could be limited to India and China for now. It’s also likely to launch in the 8GB / 128GB configuration, which is priced at Rs 39,999 in India. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Oxygen OS 5.1 on top.
