If OnePlus does stick to this rumored timeframe, it would be a huge break in its traditions. The company has usually waited it out till around June to reveal its new flagship device. In the last couple of years, it has also launched a follow-up device five months later around November. It would be interesting to see, if OnePlus is really considering breaking its traditional launch pattern. Also Read - OnePlus Nord 2 is a rebranded version of Realme X9 Pro, launch next month: Report
Android Marvel quotes a reliable source claiming that OnePlus is planning on introducing an advanced facial recognition feature on the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 5T already has a similar feature, but it is far from secure like the one on the Apple iPhone X. The company has admitted as much. The report claims that the OnePlus 6 will boast a front camera setup similar to the iPhone X, complete with a 3D camera module that will use infrared light to measure depth. That said, the handset is unlikely to have the ugly notch, which is seen on the iPhone X.
Another report by GizmoChina claims that OnePlus will retain the fingerprint sensor, but it won t be at the back. Instead, the fingerprint sensor will be moved to the front, and will boast an under-glass design. This technology means that OnePlus will be able to go for a full-screen display with minimum bezels.
The likes of Vivo have already showcased their under-glass fingerprint technology, and recently we got a glimpse at an alleged prototype of the upcoming smartphone. Recently, Synaptics also announced Clear ID , which is its own under-glass fingerprint sensor.
It will be interesting to see what kind of technology is used by OnePlus. In the meanwhile, we would advise you to take these leaks with the proverbial pinch of salt.
