OnePlus tends to launch its first flagship smartphone for the year during the first half of the year. Usually around June. With the first quarter done, the hype around OnePlus 6 launch seems to have caught steam. GizmoChina reports that OnePlus 6 will launch earlier than before, and we could see it as early as end of this month. The publication has also got hold of the pricing details of the smartphone, which reveal that it will be more expensive than its predecessors. GizmoChina claims that OnePlus 6 will start at a price of RMB 3,299 (approximately Rs 33,000) for the base 64GB variant. The OnePlus 5T launched in November with a starting price of RMB 2,999 (around Rs 30,000). OnePlus 6 is reported to launch in two more variants with the 128GB storage model said to cost RMB 3,799 (around Rs 38,000), and the 256GB setting back consumers by RMB 4,399 (around Rs 44,000). Apart from the pricing, the publication also got the picture of an official looking OnePlus 6 case, which confirms the back design of the smartphone will be different from that of Oppo R15.
The OnePlus 6 is said to feature a vertically placed dual camera setup at the back which will be different from the horizontally stacked dual cameras found on the Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition. Below the dual camera system, the smartphone is expected to feature a fingerprint sensor.
We already know that OnePlus 6 will be just another smartphone launching with a notched display this year. The company co-founder Carl Pei has confirmed that OnePlus 6 will feature a notch in advance to curb the negativity around notch design at the time of official launch. The company seems to be following on the footsteps of sister brand Oppo, which also embraced notch for its flagship R15 and Oppo F7 smartphones.
GizmoChina reiterates that the smartphone will debut at the end of April, which would be early considering the end June launch timeline for its previous flagship smartphones. The OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a 6.28-inch display with resolution of 2280×1080 pixels, and 19:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, with an option for either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB internal storage.
