OnePlus has launched its mid-year refresh OnePlus 6T model globally yesterday, and the India launch is set to take place later today. The new smartphone, despite being an incremental upgrade, comes with a number of changes. These include bigger battery, bigger screen, latest Android 9 Pie software, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. As in case with every other smartphone, the OnePlus 6T has also gone through a torture test, and it survived.

YouTuber JerryRigEverything put the new smartphone under stress test in different conditions. In the video, he starts by unboxing the phone, powering it on, and then scratching the display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. He then sets up the in-display scanner with his fingerprint, and continues to scratch the display. Quire surprisingly, the scanner works fine in unlocking the device even after the glass has been scratched, which is a good thing.

OnePlus did shed some light on how the fingerprint scanner works. It said that even with the screen protector put on, the unlocking experience will remain the same. The company, however, recommends using official OnePlus Screen Protectors. And if you reapply a screen protector, the company recommends re-registering your fingerprints. Lastly, OnePlus also mentioned that screen unlock will work even when it has minor scratches or small cracks. However, in case of major damage, the company recommends contacting the customer care.

In the video, the YouTuber also puts the phone through the bend test, and the smartphone easily survives that. Lastly, you can also see the phone being put through burn test, and even after that, the display and touch functionality works as expected.
