The leaks of OnePlus 6 anticipated successor OnePlus 6T have started flooding the web already. The company has officially confirmed that the smartphone will have an in-display fingerprint scanner. It shared a screenshot of the lockscreen showcasing in-display fingerprint icon with date and time as 11:00 Wednesday October 17, which could also be the launch day for OnePlus 6T.

We have seen alleged press render image of OnePlus 6T recently, and it revealed front and back design of the phone without physical fingerprint reader and triple rear camera setup. The frontal design leaked in render was similar to a retail box leak that was claimed to be for OnePlus 6T.

Now, there is another OnePlus 6T leak on the block. Someone on Weibo posted live hands-on images of a smartphone claiming to be OnePlus 6T, although these are fake images. The front images of the phone only shows the lockscreen teaser image shared by OnePlus, and it appears to be used as wallpaper on Oppo R17 (via GSMArena). We can even see the Oppo-style clock in the top left of the screen in the second image.

Anyway, the OnePlus 6T launch event is expected in mid-October (rumored to be October 17 for now), and there are reports that OnePlus will also launch second generation of OnePlus Bullets Wireless earphones at the event too.

Recently, OnePlus shared a statement with CNET along with the teaser screenshot to talk about the number of ways a user can unlock their device. OnePlus pointed out that users unlock their devices “multiple times” during the course of the day. Options such as “Face Unlock”, and “Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps” that are used to unlock the device. The company clarified that it had initially planning to launch the in-display fingerprint scanning technology with the OnePlus 5T but the technology behind this feature was not “mature enough” to meet the quality and reliability standards that the company had established for “a fast and smooth user experience”.
