OnePlus 6T was officially launched at an event in New York last evening, and the smartphone will be officially launched for the Indian market tonight. The Chinese smartphone maker is hosting an event in New Delhi where it will reveal the price for the smartphone.
OnePlus 6T India launch: How to watch livestream
OnePlus 6T is not going to be any different from the one launched at the event in New York yesterday. However, the most interesting thing will be the price, since OnePlus is using an in-display fingerprint sensor instead of capacitive sensor on its latest flagship. The launch event in the national capital is scheduled to start at 8.30PM IST, and will be streamed live on company’s social media channels including YouTube.
With the India launch event this evening, OnePlus will be challenging Apple, which is hosting its own event in New York. Apple is expected to introduce updated Mac and iPad at the event today but considering the pricing, those devices may not be as attractive to the Indian audience. OnePlus gets a free run with its newest flagship device, especially after becoming the leader in the premium smartphone segment.
OnePlus 6T India launch: Expected Price and Availability
OnePlus 6T, like all previous OnePlus flagships, will be available online exclusively from Amazon India. The company is also expected to sell the device via its own retail stores in the leading metro cities. Amazon India commenced taking pre-orders for the smartphone during the Great Indian Festival sale and will officially start selling the smartphone from November 3.
OnePlus 6T is being offered in three different storage variants and it starts at $549 (around Rs 40,400) in the US. The base model starts at 6GB RAM and 128GB storage while the higher versions with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage are priced at $579 (around Rs 42,600) and $629 (around Rs 46,250) respectively.
In India, OnePlus 6 was launched at a starting price of Rs 34,999, which was higher than the price of its predecessor OnePlus 5T. So, it is likely that OnePlus 6T would be a bit more expensive than the OnePlus 6.
OnePlus 6T: Specifications and Features
OnePlus 6T is not a really big upgrade from OnePlus 6, which was launched just five months back. It features a bigger display and battery, a smaller notch and in-display fingerprint sensor. It sports the same metal and glass design that was first introduced with the launch of OnePlus 6 early this year.
There is a 6.41-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution of 2340×1080 pixels, and waterdrop notch. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. For imaging, there is dual rear camera setup with 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors, but OnePlus is introducing new image processing including a new low-light photography feature called Nightscape. At the front, there is the same 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and 25mm wide-angle lens.
Watch: OnePlus 6T Hands-On
The OnePlus 6T’s biggest selling point has to be the in-display fingerprint sensor, first mainstream device after Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 to get the feature. It has a reaction time of 0.34 seconds, which the company claims to be the fastest yet on any smartphone with such a sensor. It runs Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box, and will be available in midnight black and mirror black finishes.
