Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has already confirmed that it’s not likely to change its market strategy this year. The OnePlus 6T is expected this fall. The smartphone is slated to launch in October, with fans already trying to predict the product design with concepts.
It has now emerged that OnePlus is closing an unprecedented partnership with T-Mobile that could leverage future top-line sales in the United States. According to CNET, T-Mobile will market the OnePlus 6T in its retail stores and will even work further to optimize for use on its network. This could end up being a prominent means to success in the US market.
This collaboration, however, will not affect sales in the global market, and the device will still be compatible with both the T-Mobile network and AT&T. Currently, the built-in modems on OnePlus phones aren’t compatible with Verizon and Sprint networks. As of writing this report, there isn’t any concrete rumor that indicates that would change with the OnePlus 6T. The expected price of the successor to the OnePlus 6 would probably be in the vicinity of $550 (₹38,000) for the base model. This is close to half of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Apple iPhone X.

This isn’t the first time a device manufacturer struck a deal with an American operator. Although contracts with operators in the US is common, device companies such as Essential have worked with Sprint in the US. However, the resulting sales of the PH-1 wasn’t as encouraging as it might have expected. Despite these market figures, expectations from OnePlus continue to be high owing to its high-end hardware and brand value.
