OnePlus has created a name for itself in the smartphone space for being the flagship killer. Right from the very first smartphone, the company has been offering top of the line hardware at a fraction of cost compared to the flagship smartphones from Samsung, LG, Apple and others. And over the past year and a half, OnePlus has also released special edition devices, by adding a unique touch of look and feel to it.

The latest is the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition smartphone, and its design is inspired from the MCL33 2018 Formula 1 car. This is the third such special edition smartphone, with the earlier being OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition, and OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition before that. Here’s a look at how these models differ in terms of design compared to the regular OnePlus smartphones.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition

The new OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition comes with the signature McLaren Papaya Orange color around the bottom and side edges at the back. It then fades into black, and the pattern under the glass back is based on McLaren’s carbon fiber design. There is also the McLaren logo at the bottom half. The smartphone is priced at Rs 50,999 in India and will be available via Amazon India.

Besides the design, OnePlus has also added theming elements to the UI, where quick settings shortcut buttons are of Papaya Orange in color. There is also an AR camera app that works with a McLaren booklet bundled inside the box, and it shows of the McLaren car in its full glory.

There are three more additions that OnePlus has added, first being 10GB of RAM, making it the first smartphone in India to come with such massive amount of RAM. Secondly, OnePlus has also added a new Warp Charge 30 technology that uses a 30W fast charger to charge the phone’s 3,700mAh battery. It can charge from 0-50 in 30 minutes, and OnePlus says that much battery is enough to last the entire day. Lastly, the company has also bundled a silicon case with carbon fiber pattern for added grip, and there is a McLaren logo on it too.

Even the charger has a dash of Papaya Orange color, and there is nylon-braided charging cable in the orange color too. Other than that, it shares the same set of features as the OnePlus 6T which includes Snapdragon 845 SoC, dual rear cameras, 16-megapixel front camera, Android Pie OS, 6.4-inch full HD+ display with waterdrop notch, and more.

The OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Edition did not differ from OnePlus 6 in design, but there were some cool finishing touches. The smartphone featured a glass back with Kevlar-finish, and Avengers logo in gold color at the bottom. It also included a thick rubber case with Iron Man logo carved out on the case.

The box also packed a Golden badge, and upon collecting all, users would get a gift from OnePlus. It was more on the lines of “Avengers Assemble,” bringing all the superheroes together. OnePlus also added software tweaks such as Avengers Infinity wallpapers, 5 of them.
