Earlier this week, the OnePlus 6T finally went official at an event in New York. A day later, OnePlus launched the newest flagship killer in India as well, and the smartphone is now available for purchase on Amazon India. Having a starting price of Rs 37,999, the OnePlus 6T features a handful of interesting features, such as a waterdrop-style notch (which is much smaller than that on its predecessor), an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a sizeable 3,700mAh battery. But is it sturdy enough to handle the rigors of day to day usage? Apparently, yes. Youtuber JerryRigEverything recently put the OnePlus 6T through its paces, concluding that OnePlus latest flagship killer is quite a durable, and a well-built smartphone. Also Read - OnePlus - Oppo integration: What this partnership means for smartphone users?
The video (embedded above), shows Nelson testing OnePlus 6T s Gorilla Glass 6 front panel on Mohs hardness scale. The Gorilla Glass 6 layer gets scratched at level six, which is quite normal. Interestingly, the in-display fingerprint scanner works just fine even after the glass surface above it is heavily scratched up.
Moving forward, the anodized aluminum frame as well as all the components it houses (alert slider, power button, volume rocker, and dual-SIM tray) survive the wrath of Nelson s blade, although they do (obviously) get scratched up.
As for the back panel, it begins to show scratches at level three. However, the glass covering the dual-camera system and LED flash don t get damaged. Then comes the burn test, but the OnePlus 6T s Optic AMOLED panel survives that as well.
Lastly, the smartphone (or more specifically, its chassis) comes out unscathed even after being subjected to Nelson s bend/stress test, leading the YouTuber to give the flagship killer a thumbs up . So, if you ve been planning to buy a OnePlus 6T, rest assured that you ll be getting a well-built smartphone.
