OnePlus 6T, the newest flagship from the Chinese hardware startup, was launched last month in Mirror Black and Midnight Black colors. Ahead of the launch, there were rumors that company will introduce a third version in purple color finish alongside the two standard colors. While OnePlus 6T is available in only two colors, it now seems that OnePlus will indeed launch a variant in purple color.

The official press renders for the purple color variant of the OnePlus 6T have leaked online courtesy Mr Gizmo, and it is expected to be called OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple. The new variant stands out for being from red, black and blue smartphone finish seen from other smartphone makers. The renders suggest that the OnePlus 6T Purple variant is wrapped in glass like other models, and has a gradient finish that changes hue from purple to a darker shade based on light.

Like other variants, the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple model will also have black front bezels. It will differ from two other OnePlus 6T models in terms of finish but offer same specifications. OnePlus 6, the predecessor to OnePlus 6T, was offered in mirror black, midnight black, sandstone white, Lava Red colors in addition to a limited edition Avengers Edition.

OnePlus 6T Specifications and Price

OnePlus 6T is an iterative update to OnePlus 6, which was launched just five months ago. The smartphone features the same metal and glass design adopted early this year and differs from its siblings by offering a bigger display and battery, a smaller notch and in-display fingerprint sensor.

OnePlus 6T sports a 6.41-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution of 2340×1080 pixels, and teardrop notch similar to one seen on Realme 2 Pro and Vivo V11 Pro. It is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU, 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. As far as camera setup is concerned, there is dual rear camera setup comprising of a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensors similar to the OnePlus 6.

This year, OnePlus is introducing a new camera feature called Nightscape, a new mechanism to capture low-light images with multiple exposures similar to Google’s Night Sight mode. For selfies, OnePlus 6T gets a 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and 25mm wide-angle lens.

Watch: OnePlus 6T Hands-On

The OnePlus 6T’s big new feature is the in-display fingerprint sensor, first mainstream device after Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 8 to support the technology. OnePlus claims the sensor has a reaction time of 0.34 seconds, making it the fastest on any smartphone with such a sensor. It runs Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box, and is priced at Rs 37,999 for the 6GB RAM, 128GB storage variant. The variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 41,999 while the 256GB storage variant will set you back by Rs 45,999.
