OnePlus has just announced the software maintenance schedule for all its supported devices in the market. This includes devices right from the OnePlus 3 till its latest device, the OnePlus 6. Other devices that this schedule will apply to include the OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5, and the OnePlus 5T. The company announced this schedule in a post on the OnePlus forums. According to the detailed post, the company will provide regular software updates including new Android versions, Android security patches and new features once every two months for up to 24 months after the launch of the device.
The interesting part here in the maintenance schedule is that the company added that it will consider the launch date of the T variants that it has launched so far. In addition to the 24-month support, the company will provide one-year extended support to provide Android Security Patch updates once every two months for the devices. This means that the company will provide some level of support for all its devices for up to three years after the launch date. This is impressive considering Google also provides software updates to its Google Pixel and Google Pixel lineup till three years after the launch of the device. This new schedule will apply to all the OnePlus 3, 3T, OnePlus 5, 5T, and OnePlus 6 devices in the market “effective immediately.”

The company also clarified the software schedule for all OnePlus 3 and 3T devices by adding that it will launch the last Open Beta build for both the devices “later this week.” It will offer a stable version for the beta testers of OnePlus 3 and 3T so that they can switch back to the stable version of OxygenOS.
OnePlus noted that users will need to take a backup of all their important data on their smartphones and clear all the data and cache before flashing the stable version to ensure stability.
OnePlus 3 and 3T users will continue to receive regular OTA updates till November 2018 and after that, the company will continue to provide the users with “1 year of extended Android security patches.” Manu J, OnePlus Staff member responsible for the Beta Program and Developer Relations added that OnePlus will share “more exciting news about Android version updates” – presumably Android P – in “coming months”.
