OnePlus just announced at the ongoing Snapdragon Tech Summit in Hawaii that it will be the first company to launch a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855-equipped flagship smartphone. CEO Pete Lau took to the state last night to talk about the working relationship between the two companies. Lau spoke about how OnePlus has been using the Snapdragon 800 series SoC’s ever since the launch of its first smartphone in the market, the OnePlus One back in 2014.
Lau went on to say, “We know that the 855 is the most powerful chipset, it is definitely the one and only choice.” In addition to this, the company also announced that it will be the first in the European market to launch a 5G-capable smartphone sometime in “early 2019”. It is worth noting that OnePlus has already confirmed that its upcoming flagship smartphone, possibly the OnePlus 7, will not come with 5G connectivity. Instead, it is planning to launch a new smartphone lineup for 5G-enabled smartphones.

OnePlus took to its official Twitter handle to make both the announcements. According to the details on Twitter, the company has teamed up with EE to bring 5G to Europe. This comes right after the announcement that the company is teaming up with McLaren to launch the McLaren version of its latest flagship smartphone in the market, the OnePlus 6T.
In addition to the new hardware, the company is also working on providing fast updates to its current device owners. The company has managed to provide stable as well as beta updates to OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, and even the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
