In terms of software update, the OnePlus 3 is getting Open Beta 36 while OnePlus 3T is getting Open Beta 27. The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T are getting Open Beta 10 and Open Beta 8, respectively. The changelog, which remains same for all four models, reveals that the open beta update brings a new Toolbox Card in the shelf homescreen and a Hidden Space for the app drawer. It is not clear what OnePlus means by the Hidden Space in the app drawer, but it notes that the update also brings support for editing dynamic icons like the weather, clock and calendar. One of the major changes with the update is the introduction of an optimized user interface for the OnePlus switch application. The enhancements come in the form of a new UI for backup and restore, an optimized logic for time remaining. The update also brings general bug fixes and stability improvements. Other enhancements coming with this particular update include added group MMS support.
The open beta software does not seem to be available in the form of an over-the-air (OTA) update and the Chinese smartphone maker has published full flashing instructions on the download page for those planning to get the update. The open beta update being released to these smartphones are still based on Android Oreo.
