The recently launched OnePlus One 16GB version has been priced at Rs 18,999 which is Rs 1,000 less than its Chinese arch rival the Xiaomi Mi 4. It makes sense to compare both these devices as both of them are high performing affordable phones. With not a lot differentiating the two, we compare them on the basis of their specifications and features.Price Also Read - Free Fire Max launch in October: Better graphics, minimum requirements, Firelink technology and moreAlso Read - GoPro Hero 10 Black in-pics: Here's a closer look at this new action camera
The Xiaomi Mi 4 is currently priced at Rs 19,999 making it slightly more expensive than the OnePlus One at Rs 18,999. Both the phones are not available off the shelf and prospective buyers need to participate in the flash sale for the Xiaomi Mi4 or try to earn an invite for the OnePlus One 16GB. The OnePlus One and the Mi 4 both are slightly thick at 8.9mm. The latter emerges as the lighter option at 149 grams whereas the former is heavier at 162gms. Construction wise the Mi 4 feels premium and elegant with its chamfered metal edges, as compared to the plastic One.
The Mi 4 flaunts a 5-inch display set at a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels translating into a pixel density of 441ppi. The OnePlus one is equipped with a larger 5.5-inch screen with a similar full HD display with a pixel density of 401ppi.
Processor and RAM
This round is a tie since both the smartphones are powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz and paired with Adreno 330 GPU. Both the processors are paired with 3GB of RAM as well.
The two smartphones are again tied as both sport 16GB internal storage with no option to expand them. Limited memory capacity is the biggest letdown of both these phones and if you are in habit of storing huge files in your phones, the both the smartphones are available with 64GB internal capacity as well.
Both the smartphones come with a 13-megapixel camera at the back. On the front however, the Mi 4 features an 8-megapixel snapper, while the One lags behind with a 5-megapixel snapper. This comparison is only on paper, and is not a judgment on how good they are.
Little differentiates the two smartphones in this department as well. The One features a non-removable 3,100mAh battery, while the Mi 4 includes a slightly smaller 3,080mAh battery.
Xiaomi Mi 4 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat wrapped under MIUI 6. The latest version of the UI is better than in most ways compared to MIUI 5. The OnePlus One, on the other hand, runs on Cyanogen OS 11, which too is based on Android KitKat. The company has however promised that it will soon be upgrading the phones to the latest Oxygen OS, which is based on Lollipop.
Both the smartphones then are closely matched in terms of the specifications and features they offer. Both the smartphones are limiting as far as storage is concerned, as neither offers a microSD card slot to expand the storage. Given a choice though, the OnePlus One edges ahead since it is not only Rs 1,000 cheaper, but also offers 4G LTE support.
