OnePlus relationship with Cyanogen post the latter s exclusive deal with Micromax has increasingly come under the scanner. While the latter clarified its stance over support for devices bought globally last week, there were some grey areas regarding devices bought via Amazon India. Cyanogen has finally come clean over whether they will support devices bought in India, and the TL;DR version is no, they won t. Cyanogen mentions how they have been barraged with inquiries regarding support for OnePlus One devices in India. It has answered to them all by saying, As we had pledged to our users, OnePlus One global devices will receive our OTA firmware updates. If a user in India purchased a OnePlus One global device in channels outside of India, they will receive our OTA firmware updates. It has also reiterated its commitment towards the exclusive partnership in India with Micromax, which is believed to be launching its first Cyanogen powered Yu smartphone sometime this month.
As mentioned above, OnePlus debut in India has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. Just before it launched the One in India, Cyanogen announced its exclusive partnership with Micromax, to which the Chinese company reacted saying it was surprised and disappointed.
It has however assured of its commitment to the Indian users and has revealed its plans for the One buyers. The company is working on its own custom ROM based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, which it plans on widely releasing in February next year.

Since we clarified our support for OTA firmware updates for OnePlus One global devices, we ve received a number of inquiries regarding OnePlus One devices sold in India.
As we had pledged to our users, OnePlus One global devices will receive our OTA firmware updates. If a user in India purchased a OnePlus One global device in channels outside of India, they will receive our OTA firmware updates. However, this excludes OnePlus One regional devices sold directly in India. We are committed to our exclusive partnership in India with Micromax, which will be launching its first Cyanogen OS device under their new YU brand.
