OnePlus, in partnership with famed fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, will be launching a limited edition of the OnePlus 5 smartphone on September 22 in Paris. The phone will be called Callection , while the full name of the device will be OnePlus 5 JCC+ limited edition. The Castelbajac-inspired OnePlus 5 will be offered as a premium hardware variant, that will feature 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. In terms of pricing, the new OnePlus 5 is priced at 499 (Rs 43,300 approximately). There is no word on whether the company will launch the limited edition phone in India. The OnePlus 5 JCC+ limited edition smartphone will go on sale in Paris on September 22. OnePlus will also host a pop-up event at the fashion boutique Colette. Starting October 2, the phone will be sold on OnePlus.net throughout Europe. The limited version of the OnePlus 5 will sport a blue power button, yellow mute or vibrate button, and a red volume rocker. The design features writing on the back in a handwriting-style script. Specifications of the phone will remain the same compared as that of the original OnePlus 5 model. Further, the company will also sell limited edition t-shirts, bags, caps, and holsters that are designed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.
Commenting on the launch, Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus said, “we’re always looking to try new things with partners who embody the Never Settle spirit. It’s been great collaborating with an icon like Jean-Charles Castelbajac, who is continuously bringing game-changing ideas to the fashion industry”.
OnePlus launched in India in June this year. In India, the smartphone is priced at Rs 32,999 for the 6GB/64GB variant and Rs 37,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant. The smartphone is available to purchase via Amazon India, and the company also recently announced that it will start selling offline through select Croma Retail stores.
In terms of specifications, the device features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 1920 pixels) AMOLED display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC. On the camera front, the phone comes with a 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual-camera setup at the back. The 16-megapixel sensor (Sony IMX398) comes with f/1.7 aperture. The secondary 20-megapixel (Sony IMX350) telephoto zoom lens comes with f/2.6 aperture and better lossless zoom capabilities, as well as enables the portrait mode for depth-of-field effects. Keeping the phone ticking is a 3,300mAh non-removable battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs OxygenOS on top of Android 7.1.1.
