Switching to a new smartphone is a lot easier today than it was a few years ago, considering that much of our data is safely stored on the cloud. However, installing all of your apps, logging in and setting up the home screen layout to your specific preferences is still a manual task that none of us can avoid. OnePlus offers a fix to this with its OnePlus Switch feature, which was introduced as an app earlier this year. Now, OnePlus has rolled out an update to Switch – version 2.1 – which makes the process even easier. While OnePlus Switch is now embedded into the settings of the phone rather than as a separate app (in the case of new OnePlus phones), its functionality remains largely the same. It allows you to move your data from your old phone to a new OnePlus device quickly and easily, in a single process. The latest version OnePlus Switch 2.1 is out now on the Google Play Store for non-OnePlus devices, and now also allows you to migrate launcher settings, wallpapers and the specific layout, manual connections to mobile hotspots, support for backup application data and greater compatibility with Android models. Earlier, while app data, downloads and any data stored on the phone memory could be transferred, launcher-specific info could not be migrated. The new feature will make it even easier to switch to a new OnePlus device, thanks to the ability to move launcher data. However, launcher migration only seems to work on the OnePlus launcher for now, meaning that it will only work if your previous phone is also a OnePlus device.
