As mentioned above, both the smartphones are closely priced. The Mi 4 will be on sale via Flipkart at 2:00PM priced at Rs 19,999. The One, on the other hand, will be on sale via Amazon India at 10:00AM tomorrow priced at Rs 21,999. Also Read - Mi 11 Lite first look: A OnePlus Nord CE competitor, is it?
From the size perspective, the OnePlus One is bigger than the Mi 4, but both feature the same thickness 8.9mm. The former measures 152.9 75.9mm, while the latter measures 139.2 68.5mm. The Mi 4 is lighter than the One weighing in at 149 grams, compared to the One s 162 grams.
As far as specifications are concerned, the two smartphones flaunt full HD (1920×1080 pixels) displays. The differentiating factor however is the size, with the One featuring a 5.5-inch screen, while the Mi 4 features a 5-inch screen. This difference in size affects the pixel density the former s display has a density of 401ppi, while the latter s display has 441ppi – but that shouldn’t be of any significant concern.
Under the hood, both the smartphones have enough power to handle any and everything thrown at them. Both have a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, paired with 3GB of RAM. Neither of the smartphones has a microSD card slot to expand the internal storage, but where the One features 64GB storage, the Mi 4 only has 16GB internal storage.
On the photography front, the smartphones feature a 13-megapixel snapper at the back with LED flash. On the front however, the Mi 4 edges ahead with an 8-megapixel camera, compared to the 5-megapixel camera on the One.
The similarities continue in the battery department too, with the devices featuring batteries bigger than 3,000mAh. The One has a 3,100mAh battery, while the Mi 4 has a 3,080mAh unit.
While both the handsets run on Android KitKat, their custom skins and features make a lot of difference. The Mi 4 runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat wrapped under MIUI 6, while the One runs on Cyanogen 11S OS based on Android KitKat. OnePlus is planning to roll out an Android Lollipop update soon with its own UI on top. Xiaomi hasn’t revealed any plans for Android Lollipop update for the Mi 4, yet
The smartphones then are quite closely matched on the basis of specifications and features they offer. The price tag too isn t a whole lot different with the One only Rs 2,000 more than the Mi 4. But for the extra buck, you get 64GB internal storage, as well as LTE connectivity, something the Xiaomi Mi 4 lacks.
The scales are slightly tipped towards the OnePlus One in our opinion. What do you think? Let us know in comments below.
