Just days after introducing its WebKit-based browser for Android, Opera today announced the beta version of its desktop browser running on the same rendering engine, called Opera Next. With the latest version of the browser, Opera has introduced new features as well as a completely revamped user interface, with the company saying, The browser was made from scratch and given a revamp to offer users a sleeker and easier browsing experience. To start with, the address and the search bar have been combined, allowing you to type in your search queries right in the address bar, as you would do on Chrome or Firefox. The speed dial screen too has been given an update and it now supports folders.
Just like on Android, the desktop version too gets features like Stash and Discover the former lets users save webpages for later, while the latter looks for content according to the user s likes and accordingly recommends pages. And finally, Opera has discontinued its in-built mail client and is in the process of slowly rolling out a separate email client.
