Oppo is gearing up to launch the F7 smartphone in India on March 26. In the meantime though, the company has quietly launched a new smartphone in its home country. The Oppo A1 with budget-level specifications has launched in China, and is set to go on sale from April 1.

The Oppo A1 launched in China, comes with a price tag of RMB 1,399 (Rs 14,400 approximately), reports. It will be available in three colors – Cherry Red, Dark Blue, and Pearly White. While the smartphone is set to go on sale in China from April 1, there is no word on whether it will come to India. Despite featuring a set of budget specifications and features, the Oppo A1 flaunts a contemporary design. Among the highlights is clearly the tall 5.7-inch S-IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Oppo A1 specifications, features

Apart from the display, the Oppo A1 features 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. There is currently no word on the chipset powering the device. But making sure everything ticks is a 3,180mAh battery underneath.

For photography, the smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel primary camera with auto-focus and LED flash. For selfies, the device gets an 8-megapixel front camera. Interestingly, the A1 doesn’t come with a fingerprint sensor. Instead, it comes with facial recognition as a security feature.

While the A1 is quite a modest smartphone, Oppo will soon be launching a showstopper of a device. In the run up to the event, we already have a fair idea of what to expect from the F7.

The Oppo F7 is set to feature a full-screen design with a notch at the top that will remind you of the Apple iPhone X. As for specifications, it is set to come with a 6.23-inch full HD+ LCD display, and a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC paired with Mali-G72MP3 GPU, and 6GB of RAM.

There will also be a 16-megapixel rear camera, 25-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,400mAh battery. On the software front, it will run Android-based Color OS 5.0. It will also feature a Face Unlock feature. Leaks hint at a sub-Rs 30,000 price tag for the Oppo F7.
