A new leak suggests that Oppo is close to launching a new mid-range smartphone called the Oppo A5. The phone is part of the same range as the Oppo A3 that was launched earlier this year, but ould come with slightly different specifications, including a Qualcomm chipset under the hood and a dual-camera setup at the rear. The phone will also a sport a 6.2-inch screen with a display notch for the front camera, earpiece and sensors.
According to a report by Chinese website MTKSJ.com, the reported Oppo A5 renders show a 6.2-inch notched screen, but the screen resolution could be HD+, which is less than the full-HD+ resolution on the Oppo A3. The chipset is not specified, but based on the details available in the leak, it could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 budget chipset. The renders also show a dual-camera setup at the rear, which could be a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel arrangement.
Notably, there’s no fingerprint sensor at the back or front of the phone, and it’s unlikely that a phone with these specifications would have an in-display fingerprint sensor built in. The phone could rely solely on face unlocking for biometric security, and will reported come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. As is the case with Oppo smartphones, the Oppo A3 is likely to come with the Color OS overlay, on top of Android 8.1 Oreo.
