OPPO last year made headlines in India with its selfie-centric F1s and the F1 Plus, which feature a 16-megapixel front camera, selfie flash and enhanced Beautify mode. OPPO is continuing the trend this year as it announces the launch of another selfie-focused smartphone the A57 in India. The OPPO A57 smartphone will launch in India on February 3. OPPO had launched the smartphone in China last November for a price tag of RMB 1,599, which is approximately Rs 16,000, and the Indian price tag is expected to remain the same. The OPPO A57 is clad in a metal unibody design, and its Home button doubles as fingerprint sensor. Available in two color options of gold and rose gold, the smartphone features a sleek back finish with curved edges. The rear camera lens is placed in the top left corner with antenna bands running along the top and bottom of the smartphone. The power button is placed on the right side of the smartphone, and the volume rocker on the left side. The overall design is quite similar to what we have seen on the F1s and the F1 Plus smartphones.
OPPO A57 specifications
The OPPO A57 features a 5.2-inch HD (720p) LCD display with 2.5D curved glass. At the core of the smartphone is Qualcomm s Snapdragon 435 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with Adreno 505 GPU. In terms of RAM and storage, the smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
In the photography department, the OPPO A57 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF laser focus. For selfie enthusiasts, the smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel front camera. For power the smartphone uses a 2,900mAh battery. The connectivity options offered by the smartphone include dual-SIM support, 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB, OTG support and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ColorOS 3.0.
After its launch and its assumed price, the OPPO A57 in India will go against smartphones like the Moto M, HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle, and the Gionee S6s. The first smartphone in line is the Moto M which is priced at Rs 15,999, and features a 5.5-inch full HD IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved glass protection. Under its hood, it runs a MediaTek Helio P15 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. For photography, the Moto M sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. Up front, the smartphone houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera with Beautification Mode. The HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle priced at Rs 15,990, features a 5.5-inch HD Super LCD display with Corning s Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood, it runs Qualcomm s Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM. In addition, the smartphone comes with onboard storage of 32GB. In the camera department, the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.8 aperture. The smartphone is powered by a 2,700mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with HTC Sense.
The third smartphone, the Gionee S6s, is priced at Rs 16,950 and features a 5.5-inch full HD IP display with 2.5D curved edge display and Corning s Gorilla Glass protection. Under its hood, it runs a MediaTek 6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. For photography, the Gionee S6s sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and Sony IMX 258 sensor. Up front, the smartphone houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture, LED flash and screen flash.
