Oppo announces PUBG Mobile campus championship 2018 in partnership with Tencent Games

Registrations for the eSport event is now open and the grand finale will be held in Bangalore.

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has announced Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile campus championship 2018 as one of India’s biggest eSports event. The championship event is being introduced in the country in partnership with Tencent Games, the largest gaming company in the country today.

The eSports tournament will run for a period of one month starting from September 26 to October 21 and the grand finale will be held in Bangalore, the company said in a released statement. PUBG tournaments are not a new concept and have been happening around the world but what makes this event different is that it will be experienced through Oppo F9 Pro, the new premium mid-range smartphone from the company.

Oppo PUBG Mobile Campus Championship: Prize and how to participate

For the eSports Championship, Oppo is sponsoring a pool prize of Rs 50 lakhs and the event will feature more than 2000 colleges from 30+ cities across the country. The company says the event will witness participation from 10,000 teams where each team will have four players to play PUBG Mobile on Oppo F9 Pro. The championship will also be streamed across social media platforms allowing eSports enthusiasts to get involved with the game.

The company says that squads of four from any campus in India can participate and compete. There will be four knockout rounds including the semi-finals, which will shortlist the final 20 teams to compete for the ultimate trophy at the grand finale. The registration for the tournament is now open on the official website.

The tournament will have following special awards for the matches at the Grand Finals:

1. MVP – Overall Best Player with maximum number of MVP awards
2. The Executioner – Awarded for maximum kills overall
3. The Medic – Awarded for highest number of revives
4. The Redeemer – Awarded to the player with highest amount of health restored
5. The Rampage Freak – Awarded for maximum kills in one lobby
6. The Lone ranger – Awarded for Maximum Time Survived in game

Oppo F9 Pro: Specifications and Price

Oppo F9 Pro sports a 6.3-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It features a waterdrop-style notch and is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB expandable storage. On the camera front, there is a dual rear camera setup comprising of 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors and a 25-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture at the front.

The smartphone supports WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE and it runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The Oppo F9 Pro has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and is backed by a 3,500mAh battery. It supports VOOC fast-charging, which uses 5V/4A adapter similar to OnePlus 6 for 20W fast charging. The Oppo F9 Pro, which comes as a replacement to Oppo F7, will be available in red, blue and purple. The smartphone is priced at Rs 23,990.
