Oppo F7 and Vivo V9, the two new smartphones with iPhone X style notch will go on sale today. With the Oppo F7, the Chinese smartphone maker is adopting the flash sale model. The smartphone will go on its first flash sale at 12:00PM exclusively on Flipkart. The Vivo V9, on the other hand, is now available for pre-order via leading retail platforms.

Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 were announced last month as successors to company’s previous selfie-centric smartphones. The Oppo F7 succeeds Oppo F5, while Vivo V9 is the successor to the Vivo V7. Both smartphones bring high-resolution image sensors to the front facing camera, and a design that follows the recent trends. Both Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 sport a display with a cut-out notch similar to the iPhone X. The design being controversial leads to an edge-to-edge display design, and enables higher screen-to-body ratio.

The significance of the Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 launch is further highlighted by the fact that these two smartphone makers saw decline in their market share last year. Oppo dropped to fifth place while Vivo stayed third with minor improvement in its market share. The new announcements come on the heels of Xiaomi’s product launches including the Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi 5. Xiaomi claims to have sold over 300,000 units of Redmi Note 5 during the first flash sale alone.
