We have heard so much about Samsung’s foldable smartphone in the past few years. And from what the reports suggest, 2018 may be the year the foldable phone actually makes it to the market. However, simultaneously, Oppo seems to be cooking a similar broth.
As per a recent report, Oppo has recently patented a new smartphone design, which reveals the possibility of a foldable phone.
From what the patent images show, the device turns inwards, with hinges placed on the outside, so that when the smartphone is unfolded, it becomes one big single display.
First pointed out by CNMO, the patent also reveals the Oppo foldable smartphone sporting a dual camera at the back. Purpose of the foldable screen you ask? Well, as per the patent, when folded, one of the sides can be used for making calls, while the other can be used for taking selfies with the front camera and what appears to be an LED flash.
Also to be noted are the top and bottom bezels seen in the patent illustrations, which are quite noticeable. The side bezels, however, look thin and one of them will be literally non-existent when the phone is folded in its standard form.
