All those leaks around Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro made us believe that Oppo is ditching the fingerprint sensor on these devices. Now a new leak has emerged from China (spotted by GizmoChina), suggesting that there might be an in-display fingerprint reader like the Vivo NEX.
Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro are considered as slightly premium mid-range smartphones from the Chinese company Oppo. These will be the successors to the Oppo R15 and R15 Pro, which were launched in March this year.
Recently these alleged Oppo R-series of smartphones were listed on TENAA, revealing their key specifications. As per the listing, the smartphones are likely to feature a 6.3-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio OLED display, dual rear cameras, 156.7x74x7.9mm dimensions, and a 3,415mAh battery. Other than that, these are anticipated to be powered by either MediaTek Helio P60 SoC or Snapdragon 710 SoC, coupled 6GB RAM and 128GB storage along with 3D face unlock like the Apple iPhone X.
The model numbers were listed as the Oppo PBCM00 and PBCT00 on TENAA. The same devices are expected to debut as Oppo F9 and Oppo F9 Pro for the global market as well. Oppo has already started teasing these devices. In India, the company will be launching the Oppo F9 Pro with Essential Phone-like smaller notch display.
The official video teaser reveals a triangle-shaped notch and support for VOOC charging. The teaser says that 5 minutes of charging will result into 2 hours worth talktime with VOOC charging. The first official image leaked online shows the Oppo F9 Pro will have dual cameras on the back and sport a horizontal layout. The color of the back panel seems red with gradient design that will change from reddish hue to pink and violet depending on how you hold the device, something inspired from Oppo Find X.
