After a handful of teasers over the past few days, Oppo has launched its latest smartphone in India, the Oppo R17 Pro. The first R-series device from Oppo in India, the R17 Pro is the second premium device from the company this year after the Oppo Find X. The Oppo R17 Pro goes on sale on December 7, priced at Rs 45,990. The device will be available both online and through Oppo’s offline dealer network.
With key aesthetic similarities to the OnePlus 6T, the Oppo R17 Pro also takes it on when it comes to pricing. However, the R17 Pro has some key features and additions that help set it apart. The big difference is the addition of a triple-camera setup, with a 12-megapixel primary sensor, 20-megapixel secondary sensor for depth-effect shots and lossless zoom, and a third TOF 3D sensor. The primary sensor sports dual-aperture, allowing it to alternate between f/1.5 and f/2.4. Additionally, the Oppo R17 Pro also sports Super VOOC charging, with a 50W power adapter included in the box for super-fast charging.
The Oppo R17 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, and sports 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. You also get dual-SIM connectivity, a 3,700mAh battery, USB Type-C connectivity and a 25-megapixel front camera. The phone has a 6.4-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen with a waterdrop-style notch at the top, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection on top. On the software front, the Oppo R17 Pro runs on ColorOS on top of Android 8.1 Oreo.

Another interesting aspect of the Oppo R17 Pro is the aesthetic. The phone comes in an interesting color called ‘radiant mist’ which is a combination of blue and violet. In terms of build, the phone features a metal frame and glass back, which adds to the premium look of the device. While Oppo has typically focused on more affordable devices in India, this year has seen the company introduce new premium products as well in an attempt to capture market share in the lucrative premium smartphone space.
