Oppo’s sub-brand Realme is set to launch its first smartphone in India. The first smartphone from Realme will be called Realme1 and according to Oppo, the sub-brand will cater specifically to youth and the online retail market. With Realme, Oppo is aiming to take on Xiaomi, which accounts for nearly 60 percent of mobile devices shipped in the online retail segment.
Realme 1 is scheduled to launch at 12.30PM and will be exclusively available via Amazon India. One of the biggest pitch with Realme is that it won’t be sticking to generic design and will rather offer Realme 1 with Mirror Black finish seen on Oppo’s premium Oppo F7 smartphone. It is also promising high-end specifications including 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
The leaked specifications show that Realme 1 will be a high-end device with 6-inch Full HD+ display with thinner bezels. It is expected to be powered by MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and feature a 13-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel secondary camera. The specifications do point at Realme 1 being competitor to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. The real question with Realme will be: Can it get the price right?
