Oppo has unveiled Color OS 6.0 demonstrating its salient features at an event in Shenzhen. The company had teased the new version on social media previously also mentioning that it would be celebrating the 5th anniversary of ColorOS with the new release. ColorOS is a heavily-forked custom interface on top of Android, and comes on Oppo and Realme devices. So, here’s everything Oppo announced at the event.
Color OS 6.0 comes with four fundamental changes. First and foremost is a significant change in the UX of the interface. Oppo has introduced a new gradient color background for the interface to go with the physical gradient backs that have become the trend these days.
There’s also a new text font called Oppo Sans, which was developed by a local designer named Hanyi. The Chinese company says that the new text helps in minimizing visual fatigue, and improves reader efficiency. The overall UI is primarily designed to give a border-less look and feel. Although this means the interface will be more pleasing on handsets like the Oppo Find X, it will also be making its way to other devices. The icons, animations too have changed and text has been rearranged on various elements across the system.
Oppo has also developed an AI application freeze system. With the new feature, the AI learns user habits from 15-day observation, and makes decisions to freeze apps based on it. Hence, when a user exits an app, it is goes into background for 20 minutes after which the AI decides whether to freeze it completely or not. Oppo promises this improves power efficiency by seven percent. The company also showed off a feature called game sounder which delivers gripping effects along with sound templates to customize the whole audio experience.
